RecordHTML

RecordHTML / HTML5 banner to video

Turn HTML5 banner ads into video and GIF

Reuse an animated HTML5 banner as MP4 or WebM for previews, video placements and campaign handoff. Record at the exact banner dimensions with frame-accurate timing, instead of trimming a manual screen capture.

Create an account or sign in, then review your settings. Your URL and output format carry over. Choose your ZIP file in the recorder after signing in; no file is uploaded on this page.

This records a rendered animation or webpage; it does not preserve interactivity or download the original media from a site. For an original video, use the owner-provided download or export option.

Screen recording vs. frame-accurate recording

Manual screen capture

Desktop capture depends on your display resolution, window size, system load and when you press record. A busy machine can drop frames, and the start or end may need manual trimming. It can be useful for interactive walkthroughs, but matching an exact banner canvas takes extra preparation.

Configured browser recording

RecordHTML sets the viewport, output frame rate and recording length explicitly, then encodes the result with an exact frame count. It records real-time browser playback; it does not promise deterministic virtual-time rendering or that an overloaded creative cannot stutter. Test the animation, review the output, and use markers for repeatable timing.

Settings to check before delivery

Use even-numbered dimensions and match the original creative or destination screen. Video supports 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94 fps alongside whole-number options; GIF accepts whole numbers from 1 to 30 fps. Set the length within your account limit: the default is 60 seconds, while the recorder schema allows up to 300 seconds when configured. Choose audio for video only. Crop removes part of the viewport; scaling changes the output dimensions. GIF looping can be continuous or single-play, and final GIF output must not exceed 2,073,600 pixels, equivalent to 1920×1080.

Record the banner, not the browser window

Set the viewport to the creative size: medium rectangle, half page, leaderboard or another display preset. Your animation fills the recording area without browser chrome or the rest of your desktop. Custom dimensions let you match less common placements.

Keep CSS, JavaScript and WebGL in the workflow

RecordHTML renders the ad in a real browser. Keep the animation logic and assets you already have, provide its hosted URL, and choose a recording duration. If ZIP uploads are configured, you can upload a creative with index.html and its assets instead.

Make repeatable exports for campaign review

Choose an exact video frame rate, including 29.97 fps, and use trim_start() and trim_end() markers when the creative needs to signal its start and finish. Finished videos stay in your account, where you can preview, download or run the creative again with different settings.

How it works

  1. Provide the banner URL and select its display size, or enter its exact width and height.
  2. Choose MP4 or WebM, set the frame rate and duration, and configure markers if your creative uses them.
  3. Record and review the output, then download the video or rerun it with adjusted delivery settings.

Frequently asked questions

Which HTML5 banner sizes can I record?
Presets include 300×250, 300×600, 728×90, 160×600, 320×50 and 970×250. Custom even-numbered dimensions are supported within recorder and account limits.
Will exporting a banner preserve its click-through URL?
No. The result is a video file, not an interactive HTML5 ad. Configure the click-through in the destination advertising platform if that placement supports one.
Can I turn the same banner into a GIF?
Yes. Choose GIF instead of MP4 or WebM. GIF supports whole-number rates from 1 to 30 fps, has no audio, and is limited to 2,073,600 output pixels per frame.
Can I use the result for social, CTV or a backup GIF?
You can create the video or GIF asset, but each placement has its own rules. Social and CTV delivery may require different aspect ratios, audio and encoding. Backup GIF rules can constrain file size, looping and animation length. Conversion alone does not certify platform approval.
Can I upload a ZIP from an HTML5 authoring tool?
Yes, when ZIP uploads are enabled on the deployment. Publish HTML5 output with index.html at the ZIP root and use relative asset paths. The current limits are 25 MiB compressed, 100 MiB expanded and 1,000 entries. Uploaded assets are publicly accessible to anyone with their link, so never include credentials or private material.
What is the maximum recording length, and can I include audio?
Your account limit is shown in the recorder; the default maximum is 60 seconds. The schema supports up to 300 seconds if configured. MP4 and WebM can include audio; GIF cannot. Confirm that the creative plays audio correctly and that the destination permits it before delivery.
Will WebGL work, and will the file fit an ad-network limit?
WebGL can run in the recording browser, but you should test the specific creative and its assets. No fixed output file-size guarantee is made. Video bitrate and duration affect size; GIF also depends on dimensions, frame rate and visual complexity. Check the destination specification and measure the downloaded file before submitting it.
